EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette women's soccer battled Boston U. to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Gummeson Grounds: Home of Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
The Leopards struck first in the seventh minute. Junior
Katrina Santelli received a pass from sophomore
Nadia Zaffanella, which led to breakaway for Santelli. She ripped a shot into the goal to give Lafayette a 1-0 lead. The goal was Santelli's fourth of the season.
The Terriers evened the score in the 75
th minute. A pass from Olivia Avellar found Giulianna Gianino on the left side of the goal, and Gianino blasted a shot into the back of the net to knot the score at 1-1.
Neither team scored in the remaining 15 minutes of play, ending the match in a 1-1 deadlock.
Lafayette finished the afternoon with three shots (two by senior Alex Jindal), two of which were on goal, while Boston U. took 14 shots, of which 10 were on goal. The Leopards had two corners to Boston U.'s eight.
Sophomore
Catherine Apker played the full 90 minutes in goal and recorded nine saves. BU goalie Bridget Carr also played 90 minutes and was credited with one save.
The Leopards are next in action when they travel to Army on Wednesday for a match at 7 p.m.
