Men’s Soccer Earns a Point at Bucknell, 1-1

Sophomore midfielder Beaux Lizewski scored in the 38th minute

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lafayette left Lewisburg with a 1-1 tie on Friday night in conference action.

Both sides recorded five shots in the first half, but the hosts tallied five more corners (7-2) than the Leopards in the first 45 minutes. Lafayette goalkeeper Griffin Huff and Bucknell's Freddie Lapworth both made two saves in the first half.

The Maroon and White broke the deadlock in the 38th minute. The Bison were holding possession in their own half right before sophomore Beaux Lizewski jumped a pass. The Cranberry Township, Pa. native took off with the ball, skating past a defender before he was barreling down on goal. His calm left-footed finish beat Lapworth to his bottom-left corner to give Lafayette the lead.

At the intermission, Lafayette maintained its 1-0 lead.

The second half was neck-and-neck but the hosts continued to gain momentum after 10 minutes. In the 65th minute, the Bison equalized. Cade McGrath chased a loose ball down outside of Lafayette's penalty area, before facing up a Leopard defender. McGrath beat his man to the end line and squared a ball across the Leopards' box where Jack Lucas was waiting to tap the ball home.

Bucknell controlled the pace of the match down the stretch, but Lafayette held on to secure a point.

The Leopards are back in action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as they host archrival Lehigh for the final match of the regular season.
