HAMILTON, N.Y. – Big days from
Jamar Curtis and
Gabe DuBois led Lafayette to a 21-20 comeback win at Colgate on Saturday afternoon. Lafayette trailed 20-7 in the fourth quarter of the Patriot League matchup, but the Leopards found a way to win on the road.
Â
Curtis ran for his fourth-straight 100-yard rushing game of the season, managing three touchdowns on 122 yards. It was his 15
th career 100-yard rushing game. DuBois, a senior cornerback, forced a pair of fumbles that stopped key Colgate drives, one of which led to a score and the other which put away the game.
Â
Junior QB
Dean DeNobile was 9-of-16 for 89 yards while rookie
Jason Penza was 4-of-5. Defensively,
Saiku White finished with eight tackles while DuBois added seven.

Jakob Trestik's effort hit off the left upright and fell short. The game remained scoreless at the end of the first quarter.
Â
Colgate notched the first score of the game less than two minutes into the second quarter. The Raiders capped an eight-play, 73-yard drive with an 11-yard run on a direct snap to Brendan Cassamajor.
Â
The Leopards immediately answered with a 12-play scoring march. Curtis picked up 41 rushing yards on the drive, including a five-yard score that knotted the game at 7-7 with 7:08 left in the half. The Leopards benefited from a taunting penalty that kept the drive alive after a sack.

Â
The score stayed static through the end of the third quarter, but five seconds into the final stanza Jake Stearney hit Reed Swanson for an eight-yard score and a 17-7 Colgate advantage.
Â
On the ensuing possession, the Leopards faced a 4
th-and-1 at their own 32-yard line. A handoff to Curtis was stuffed at the line and the Raiders took over. Luke Vogeler added a 49-yard field at 10:18 to push Colgate's lead to 20-7.
Â
The Leopards battled back. Bruce ripped off a 21-yard run and then DeNobile hit a wide-open
Carson Persing for 45 yards. Lafayette faced 4
th-and-2 at the four-yard line. Lafayette took a timeout. The handoff went to Curtis who scampered in, as Lafayette pulled within 20-14 with seven minutes left.
Â
The defense came up with a huge turnover with five minutes left. DuBois stripped a receiver and recovered the fumble and returned it to the Colgate 41-yard line. The Lafayette offense took it from there, with Curtis running for 26 yards and the Leopards also benefiting from a roughing call. Curtis' two-yard plunge and
Jack Simonetta's PAT gave the Leopards a 21-20 lead with 2:34 left in regulation.
Â

Xavier Johnson at the Colgate 45-yard line. The Leopards ran three plays to finish off the game for their second Patriot League victory.
