EASTON, Pa. – Senior
Saiku White and freshman
Sean Kinney have earned national recognition following Leopard football's 2024 season.
On Tuesday evening, The Associated Press honored White with a place on the FCS All-America First-Team Defense (a year removed from a third-team selection). Today, White was added to the Stats Perform All-America Third Team. Kinney, who started 11 games, secured a spot on the Sports Network Freshman All-America Team.
The senior safety earned his second straight All-Patriot League First-Team selection in 2024. He started in 11 games in his final season on College Hill and led the team with 87 tackles and three interceptions. The Atlanta native started 37 career games, including all but one game his final three seasons. White is also a finalist for the
Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the nation's top defensive player. His nine career interceptions are tied for fifth among FCS active leaders. White was also named to the FCS Football Central All-America Third Team on Dec. 19.
A team captain the past two seasons, the Economics major helped guide the Leopards to a Patriot League title in 2023.
It didn't take Kinney long to find a home on the Leopards' offensive line. The rookie came off the sidelines in Lafayette's season opener at FBS foe Buffalo and never left the field. He started two games at left guard, three at right guard and then played the final six contests at center. He helped the Leopard offense feature a 1,000-yard rusher for the second straight season.
Kinney, an economics major from Nazareth, Pa. native, joins fellow Nazareth freshman
Mason Kuehner in collecting first-year laurels. Kuehner was selected to FCS
Football Central's Freshman All-America Team at punt returner on Dec. 10.
