EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette baseball team split its series with Lehigh, winning two of the four contests at Kamine Stadium this weekend. On Sunday, the Leopards split the series-ending doubleheader by taking the first game, 7-4, before dropping game two, 2-1.
Game one began with Lehigh scoring first in the second inning. With runners on the corners and two outs, Andrew Kohl singled to right field, scoring Raffaele Rogers and giving Lehigh a 1-0 lead. The Mountain Hawks extended their lead in the second. With two outs, Rogers singled to center field, scoring Jake Whitlinger fora 2-0Â advantage.
Lafayette got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Junior
Blaze Fadio singled and then stole second base. Junior
Michael Zarrillo followed with a single to left field that allowed Fadio to score, after an error by the Lehigh left fielder, making the tally 2-1.
Lehigh struck back in the top of the fifth. Tyler Young hit a two-run single up the middle that scored Rafe Perich and Brayden Hubbard for a 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Leopards loaded the bases on singles by freshman
Ryan Grace and junior
Easton Brenner, along with a hit-by-pitch that allowed
Matt Colella to reach base. Later in the inning, Grace scored on a wild pitch and Fadio delivered a two-run single to right field to tie the game at 4-4.

In the bottom of the seventh, Colella was again hit by a pitch, and two batters later,
Ethan Swidler walked. The next batter, Fadio, gave the Leopards the game one win, blasting a three-run, walk-off home run over the fence in left field for the 7-4 victory.
Sophomore
Luke Craytor collected the win, pitching 4.1 innings, giving up two runs on one hit while striking out four. Brandon Coughlin took the loss, tossing 1.2 innings, giving up three runs on one hit.
Game two was a pitchers' duel, with Lehigh scoring first in the top of the first. Andrew Nole plated Parrish with an RBI-single, to give the Mountain Hawks a 1-0 lead. Lehigh scored again in the top of third, as Hubbard crossed the plate on an error.

Neither team pushed across a run for the remainder of the game. Lafayette had its opportunities, but stranded 14 runners on base in the 2-1 final.
Najir Glenn picked up the win for Lehigh, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings in which he scattered three hits with three strikeouts. Tommy Lamar garnered his fifth save, striking out four over 2.1 innings. For Lafayette, senior
Joey Pence took the loss, allowing one run on two hits over two innings with a strikeout.
The Leopards are next in action when they host a Liberty Bell Classic quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. on Tuesday against St. Joseph's.
