WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Lafayette women's soccer team dropped a Sunday afternoon contest to Georgetown, 6-0, at Shaw Field.
The Hoyas, who were 13-2-7 last year and made the NCAA Tournment, struck first in the ninth minute on a cross to the middle of the box that found Henley Tippins, who chipped a shot into the low right corner of the goal, giving Georgetown a 1-0 advantage. Just two minutes later, in the 11
th minute, Georgetown's Shay Montgomery scored the second goal of the game after a pass from Claire Manning. Georgetown added one more goal in the first half, on a breakaway by Jocelyn Lohmeyer, making the score at halftime, 3-0.
In the second half, the Hoyas padded their lead with back-to-back goals by Maja Lardner in the 56
th and the 63
rd minute. Lohmeyer added the final score of the match for Georgetown in the 77
th minute, bringing the final tally to 6-0.
The Leopards' offense was kept in check by a Georgetown defense that allowed Lafayette only three shots, with one of them being on goal. Â

Catherine Apker played the full 90 minutes and recorded 10 saves. A trio of goalkeepers split time for Georgetown: Alexa Hadley, Cara Martin and Anna Karpenko. Karpenko recorded a save. Â
The Leopards are next in action when they return home to take on Seton Hall on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
