EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team defeated Seton Hall,1-0, on the strength of a first half goal by
Nadia Zaffanella on Thursday at Gummeson Grounds: Home of Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.

April McDonald, who lofted a pass to the doorstep of the goal. Zaffanella took the perfectly placed pass and sent a shot around the Seton Hall goalkeeper, Anna Prawer, giving the Leopards a 1-0 lead.
The teams continued to play field position for the remaining 28 minutes of the half, and the match headed to the halftime break with Lafayette leading 1-0.
In the second half, the Pirates ratcheted up their offensive pressure, recording five shots in the half, including four by Natalie Tavana, of which two were on goal. The Pirates' best opportunity to score came in the 81st minute, when Tavana rocketed a shot towards the goal, but it went right into the waiting arms of Lafayette sophomore goalkeeper
Catherine Apker. The Leopards' defense continued to play strong for the remainder of the second half, securing the 1-0 victory over Seton Hall.
Apker played the full 90 minutes, recording two saves and earning her second career shutout. Prawer and Avery Strohecker split time evenly in goal for Seton Hall. Prawer recorded a save. The Pirates were credited with six shots, while the Leopards had five. Santelli led the Leopards in shots with two.
Lafayette is next in action when it hosts NJIT for a match at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
