EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette women's soccer threatened on several occasions, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 0-0 tie against Loyola on Saturday at Gummeson Grounds: Home of Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
The Leopards' best opportunity to score in the first half came in the 34th minute, when senior
Michaela Salvati sent the ball into the goal, but the Leopards were offsides.
Lafayette did not tally a shot in the first half. Loyola recorded five shots in the first 45 minutes as the teams headed to the halftime break deadlocked, 0-0.
In the second half, the Maroon and White had several excellent scoring chances. The first came in the 87th minute when sophomore
Sofia Ruggiero rocketed a straight-on shot from 30 yards out that hit off of the crossbar. With less than 30 seconds left in the match, Lafayette had its best scoring chance of the day. A shot by sophomore

Katrina Santelli were taken from point-blank range, but were excellently defended by Greyhounds' goalkeeper Brigid Mulholland.
Lafayette finished the afternoon with six shots to Loyola's nine. Both Lafayette and the Greyhounds had three shots on goal. The Leopards had one corner and Loyola had four. The Maroon and White were led by Santelli, who had three shots.
Sophomore
Catherine Apker played the full 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves. Apker recorded her fifth shutout of the season. Mulholland also played 90 minutes with three saves.
The Leopards are next in action when they travel to Princeton on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
