Axtman, Dishnica and Liebich Claim All-Patriot League Distinction

Pair of captains and leading goal scorer were Lafayette’s backbone throughout the regular season

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men's soccer team had three members selected to the Patriot League's all-conference teams, it was announced on Friday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Eric Axtman and junior midfielder Samir Dishnica were named to the Second Team, while senior defender Nicholas Liebich earned a spot on the Third Team for the second-consecutive year.

Axtman has been a fixture in goal for Lafayette this season, racking up 17 starts throughout the regular season. The Harrisburg, Pa. native has logged 1,530 minutes this year, which ranks him 11th in the nation. On the pitch, Axtman holds a .88 goals against average, ranking second in the Patriot League. He's also in a tie for second in shutouts (7) and his 53 saves and 77.9 save percentage place him third within the conference. The Economics major was named the conference's Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 6.

Dishnica has been the Leopards' primary offensive threat in his first year on College Hill. The Cheshire, Conn. native has made 17 starts in 18 matches played this season, posting 1,465 minutes (fourth most on the team). He's currently pacing the conference in total shots (57) and shots on goal per match with a 1.44 average. Dishnica leads Lafayette in goals (4), assists (3) and points (11) and he scored match-winning goals against Le Moyne (Aug. 27) and Loyola Md. (Oct. 11). He claimed Offensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 3 for his goal and assist in Lafayette's 2-0 win over Boston U. (Oct. 31).

No outfield player has logged more minutes for Lafayette this season than Liebich (1,511). The veteran defender has registered 17 starts in 18 games and is a key piece in the Maroon and White's league-leading defense, that's let up just 15 goals this campaign. The Boise, Idaho native netted the fourth goal of his career in the Leopards' 3-3 draw at Navy on Oct. 18.

Lafayette secured the six seed in the Patriot League Tournament with a 1-1 draw at Lehigh (Nov. 4) and is now set to travel to West Point, N.Y. on Saturday to face No. 3 seed Army at 7 p.m. in the first round.
