Women’s Lacrosse Opens 2025 with Win at La Salle

Five Leopards get on the board during road trip

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Lafayette women's lacrosse team defeated La Salle, 10-9, on Wednesday afternoon to open the 2025 season.

Senior attacker Sara Rogers paced the Leopard squad with the first hat trick of the season for three points. The Explorers were led by Katie Johnson's four goals.

La Salle earned an initial 3-2 lead in the first quarter. Freshman Sadie Martiesian netted her first career goal at 9:26 in the second period as part of a three-goal spurt to tie the game 5-5 at the half.

The Explorers took a 3-1 edge in the third quarter, leading 8-6.

Martiesian kicked off the final period with her second of the day at 13:26. Kristin Igneri (2) and Rogers (1) recorded a 3-0 stretch in the final 10 minutes of play to end the game out front, 10-9.

Lafayette held the advantage in draw controls (14-8), ground balls (18-12) and shots (36-24). The Leopards secured 15-of-17 clears as opposed to the Explorers' 15-of-16.

The Maroon and White were 1-for-2 in free-position shots, while La Salle went 2-for-5.

Lafayette's senior goalkeeper Molly Terraciano made six saves in the victory. Her host counterpart, Mary Babbage, made 12.

Next up, the Leopards will travel to Mount St. Mary's on Saturday at 11 a.m.
