LEWISBURG, Pa. – Swimming and diving participated in the second day of the Patriot League Championships on Thursday at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium. Day two of the four-day championships consisted of nine events.
The Leopards broke five Lafayette school records on day two of the championships – four individual records and one relay record.
For the men, senior Peter Kawash secured the school record in the 200-yard IM with a final time of 1:48.77, collecting 18th. Kawash also broke the individual 100 backstroke school record, finishing in 48.74. Classmate Kurtis Campbell captured the school record in the 500-yard free in prelims and then re-broke the record in finals with a time of 4:26.08, taking home 12th place. Sophomore Alexander Reihl eclipsed the 50-yard free school record in prelims with a time of 20.48, ultimately taking home 16th in finals (20.82).
The women's relay team of seniors Maggie Ivie and Sophia Toomey and sophomores Caroline Schenck and Natalie Johnson surpassed the school record in the 400-yard medley. The Leopards finished with a time of 3:48.86 and earned ninth.
In the men's 50-yard free, junior Tommy Weber placed 24th with a final time of 20.98.
The men's relay team of Kawash, Reihl, Weber and senior Avery LeTourneau reeled in eighth in the 400-yard medley, finishing in 3:18.85.
In the men's 1-meter dive, sophomore Landon Orth collected 12th with a score of 270.45. Junior Peter Curtis and sophomore Trey Telleen placed 18th (238.00) and 22nd (228.80), respectively.
"Both teams made up some great ground in team points tonight. The women are only two points behind Holy Cross and the men have made up the points we lost on day one," Lafayette head coach James Dailey said. "We're up to nine school records broken and we've missed another couple by less than half a second. I can't wait to see the next two days."
"As a team we're excited and our performances are indicative of the hard work and commitment they make every day," Dailey continued.
The Maroon and White will take on day three of the championships Friday morning with prelims at 10 a.m.
