LEWISBURG, Pa. – Swimming and diving competed in the fourth and final day of the Patriot League Championships on Saturday at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium. The men's team finished seventh of 10 while the women finished ninth.
Lafayette broke four records on day four – three individual and one relay -- with the team breaking 17 records in total throughout the competition.
For the men, senior Kurtis Campbell broke the school record in the 200-yard fly with a final time of 1:48.48, securing 12th. Sophomore Alexander Zoldan captured the school record in the 1650-yard free, finishing in 15:49.03 and taking home 15th place.
The men's 400-yard free relay team of seniors Peter Kawash and Antonio Arena, junior Tommy Weber and sophomore Alexander Reihl worked together to finish in 3:01.28, surpassing the school record and enjoying a seventh-place finish.
For the women, senior Maggie Ivie topped the school record in the 200-yard backstroke in prelims with a time of 2:03.93, ultimately placing 24th (2:06.77).
Scoring for the women, junior Isabella Van Ess snagged seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.73. Sophomore Abigail Bebel collected 16th in the 200 fly (2:08.96) followed by senior Sophia Toomey in 19th (2:08.55). Freshman Meghan Robinson reeled in 21st in the 200 breast (2:23.60).
Junior Emma Luttrell achieved 25th in the 1650 free with a time of 17:50.88. Sophomore Daisy Decker and senior Paige Griggs placed 27th (17:58.70) and 28th (18:09.41) in the 1650 free, respectively.
The women's team of freshman Sara Fente-Damers, sophomores Natalie Johnson and Caroline Schenck and Ivie took home 10th in the 400 free relay with a final time of 3:29.71.
Scoring for the men, Kawash collected 14th in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:02.87. Reihl took home 20th in the 100 free (45.18) and senior Sean Robinson finished 24th in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.31.
In the men's 3-meter dive, sophomore Landon Orth and junior Peter Curtis scored 294.80 and 244.15 for 12th and 19th, respectively.
"We're really excited about how both teams finished, the number of records broken, performances from our seniors and all the new all-time top 10 performances," Lafayette head coach James Dailey said. "Our women finishing ninth is big for us and the men finishing seventh is impressive. I'm very proud of their commitment, dedication and motivation."
