ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Juniors Mia Guster and Landon Orth competed at the NCAA DI Zone A Diving Championships at Navy on Monday and Tuesday.
In the NCAA, there are five zones for diving, Zones A through E. Zone A runs from Virginia to Maine, extending to Pittsburgh and all the way across the east coast. Navy, Harvard, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Pitt, and Yale were among the teams at the meet.Â
Guster is the second female diver in Lafayette history to qualify and compete at the Zone A Championships. The Westport, Conn. native finished 73rd in the 1-meter dive with a final score of 185.00.
Orth competed in the Zone A Championships in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons and is only the second male in Lafayette history to qualify. The Papillion, Neb. native placed 48th in the 1-meter dive with a score of 214.90.
"We're really excited to have two of our divers qualify and compete at the Zone A Championships. The meet itself is a compilation of some of the best divers in Zone A, having them compete against one another and then only take the two or three best divers for each board to compete at the NCAA Division I Women's and Men's Championships, "said Lafayette head coach James Dailey.
"I know both Mia and Landon learned a lot from the experience and will be even better next season because of it. I know Mia went to watch Shaylee Daniels and Landon last year and it helped her achieve new school records in both the 1-meter and 3-meter this season," Dailey continues.
"As Coaches we are looking forward to their leadership and role modeling during the 2026-27 dual meet season, challenging and encouraging our other divers to qualify for the meet as well. We can't wait for next year."
