EASTON, Pa. -Â A combined eight points from
Sara Rogers and
Sophia Spallone lifted women's lacrosse over Bucknell, 11-10, on Wednesday evening at Fisher Stadium. Lafayette improved to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in Patriot League play, the best record since 2017.
Rogers lays claim to the game-winning goal, a catch-and-shoot throw in traffic, during the final minute of the fourth period. The Madison, N.J. native posted a team-high four goals.
Bucknell's Megan Krestinski paced the opponents with five goals, continuing to lead the program with 40 points.
The Leopards created a 3-1 advantage during the initial period with goals by
Annie Madden,
Kristin Igneri and Rogers.
Bucknell fired back to outscore Lafayette 5-4 in the second quarter using two goals each from Krestinski and Allie Boyce. Rogers (0:06) and Madden (2:27) were aided by
Olivia Kelley (6:03) and
Sophia Spallone (14:41) for the Leopard tallies to keep the 7-6 lead at halftime.
Rogers completed her hat trick at 9:57, shortly after
Haleigh Albrecht's first goal of the game (13:32) to stay on top, 9-7, going into the final 15 minutes of play.
Bucknell scored two goals to kick off the fourth quarter, tying the game 9-9 at the nine-minute mark.
Spallone netted her second of the day one minute later, which was equalized at 2:27 by Bucknell's Krestinski for another tie, 10-10. Rogers netted the game-winner with 57 seconds on the clock to earn Lafayette's second Patriot League win of 2025.
The Maroon and White held the advantage in draw controls (19-5), while Bucknell earned more ground balls (24-13) and shots (32-21). The Leopards finished 14-of-18 clears compared to the Bison's 21-of-22.
Lafayette's senior goalkeeper
Molly Terraciano made seven saves in the conference victory, surpassing 100 saves in a single season. She is the 16
th Leopard to hit the milestone of 100 saves with her 123 career stops so far. Her Bison counterpart, Colleen Kazanjian, made five saves.
Next up, the Leopards travel to No. 22 Navy on Saturday for a 12 p.m. opening draw.
