ANNAPOLIS, Md.– Lafayette men's lacrosse battled Navy to a 14-8 finish at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Friday night. The Leopards finished the outing with eight different goal scorers and Navy's Mac Haley led all scorers with three goals.
The Midshipmen were first to put points on the board, after Chase Green opened the game's scoring at the 12:19 mark. Navy scored three more unanswered goals before
Joseph Duggan halted the run with a tally (8:31). The following four minutes of play were scoreless, but Carter Ash found the back of the net with 4:30 remaining as the hosts led 5-1 after 15 minutes.
Haley rifled home his first tally of the day (13:40) to open the second stanza for Navy. Three quick goals by the hosts followed Haley's strike, granting them a 9-1 lead with 10:56 to go in the frame. Senior captain
Riley Sullivan responded with a goal at the 10:12 mark, which was his 100
th career point as a Leopard. Neither team could find the nylon in the final 10 minutes of the half, as the Midshipmen held a 9-2 advantage at the break.
Lafayette outscored Navy 3-2 in the third quarter, which began with a goal by freshman
Benjamin DiBattista (10:27). Haley tacked on another goal less than three minutes later (7:51) before junior goalkeeper
Joe Doherty scored his first collegiate goal. The Malvern, Pa. native was working the ball up the field when he noticed his counterpart was out of position to capitalize with a long-range effort. Freshman attacker
Joshua Heaney kept the Leopards' momentum rolling with a tally, but a late score by Navy handed it an 11-5 lead with 15 minutes to play.
Jack Flaherty and Haley found nylon in the early going of the final period to take a 13-5 lead.

Mason Hill and
Lukas DiGiovanni all scored in the quarter, but Navy's defense stood strong in the final 10 minutes, advancing to a 7-4 record on the year.
Navy goalkeeper Dan Daly had an exceptional outing, making 17 saves in the win. Doherty made eight saves of his own in 60 minutes of work.
Neither team held an advantage from the x, as both teams secured 13 wins in 26 attempts. Colin Shadowens won 10-of-21 attempts for the Midshipmen and
Nick Faccone went 7-for-14 for the Leopards.
The Maroon and White return to College Hill next Saturday at noon for Senior Day and a matchup with nationally-ranked Boston U.
