Box Score BALTIMORE, Md.- The No. 17 Greyhounds advanced to a NCAA Division I record 90-straight regular-season conference victories after controlling Saturday afternoon's outing against Lafayette women's lacrosse. Loyola claimed a 17-4 decision at the Ridley Athletic Complex.
Loyola's Gabby Stapleton (3) and Georgia Latch (2) contributed to a 6-0 first-quarter lead.
The Leopards held the Greyhounds to just three more goals in the second period, using four saves by senior goalkeeper
Molly Terraciano, to trail 9-0 at the halftime break.
Senior attacker
Haleigh Albrecht put an end to the host's unanswered streak at 12:29 in period three. The Wexford, Pa. native, assisted by
Sara Rogers, sent a rocket from the right side of the inner arc.
Latch retaliated with two goals in four minutes for her fifth tally of the game, propelling the opponents into another 5-0 run to end the quarter up 14-1.
Freshman
Evelyn Guyer recorded her second career goal to open the final 15 minutes of play, 14-2 at 14:13.
Isabelle Pohmer added the Leopards' third score of the afternoon at 8:30, a free-position shot to shorten the gap to 12, 16-3, despite Loyola interjecting after both goals.
Guyer netted another goal to conclude the contest at 2:32, assisted by
Kristin Igneri in the 17-4 final.
The hosts held the advantage in draw controls (22-2), ground balls (20-14), shots (44-14) and clears (14-15 to 18-24).
Lafayette's Terraciano made 12 saves in the loss while her Greyhound counterparts, Lauren Spence (5), Kennedy Buntrock (1) and Makenzie Butler, combined for six.
Next up, the Leopards host Colgate on Saturday at 4 p.m. for Senior Day.
