EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette women's basketball was recently recognized by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) as a Top 25 team in the organization's annual academic team awards. The Leopards earned the 23
rd spot in the rankings, maintaining a 3.63 GPA during the spring semester.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes college women's basketball teams across the country in their respective divisions that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
Head coach
Kia Damon-Olson had four players earn perfect 4.0 GPA's during the term and 11 Leopards earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, which requires a GPA of 3.2 or better. At the conclusion of the season,
Abby Antognoli,
Tasha Chudy,
Teresa Kiewiet and
Sauda Ntaconayigize were all selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District II Team for their performances on the court and achievements in the classroom.
On the court, Lafayette improved its conference win total (six) and won its first Patriot League playoff game since the 2021-22 campaign. The 2024-25 season also marked the first time the Leopards hosted a nationally-ranked opponent in the Patriot League era when then No. 6 Notre Dame came to Kirby Sports Center on Nov. 17.
