Four Leopards record double figures in points

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette was bested by Boston U. 83-67 on Wednesday in Kirby Sports Center.

Mark Butler, a junior guard, scored a team-high 17 points and dished four assists. He netted 8-of-12 from the floor and grabbed an additional four rebounds. The Maroon and White were cold from beyond the arc overall, finishing the game with 3-of-19.

To begin the evening, Shareef Jackson made a steal on Boston U.'s Michael McNair, allowing senior Ryan Pettit an easy bucket at the other end of the court. The Leopards trailed the Terriers, 14-8, at the 13-minute mark.

Boston U. put together a 14-2 run over the next three minutes to continue ahead to a 22-10 lead. Azmar Abdullah (5) and Donte Tisinger (6) led the way in the Terrier stretch.

The opponents had shooting success through 4:41, sinking all three attempts beyond the arc and 6-of-8 from the floor, to keep a margin of 35-24.

While Pettit and Misha Bednostin combined for five points, a last-second McNair 3-pointer kept Lafayette trailing 42-31 at halftime.

In the first four minutes of the second period, freshman Christian Humphrey-Rembert used back-to-back buckets from long distance to fuel an 11-6 Leopard run, bringing the deficit to six, 48-42.

A pair of free throws by Luke Bevilacqua got Lafayette as close as four (15:15) before the Terriers ran away with another two 3-pointers near the 11-minute mark, 60-47.

Boston U. held the upper hand over the following five minutes, 72-57 at 5:18. Ben Defty tallied eight points in the short spurt for the Terriers.

The opponents kept out of reach for the remainder of the contest, shooting 54 percent from the floor overall, in the final.

McNair led Boston U. with a career-high 29 points and five rebounds. The Terriers out-rebounded the hosts 42-28, including a 9-7 margin on the offensive glass.
