Men's Soccer Shuts Out Loyola, 1-0

Benbow records second shutout of the season

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men's soccer team earned a 1-0 Patriot League victory over Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.

Lafayette created several chances in the opening half, with Thomas Clark forcing two saves from Loyola goalkeeper Felix Huebner. The Leopards broke through in the 45th minute when Nicolas Juliano beat his defender along the end line before setting up Samir Dishnica, who finished with his left foot to give Lafayette a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Roy Biegon and Dishnica each tested Huebner after the break but the keeper fully extended both times to make the saves. Loyola had a flurry of shots right out of the gate in the second half, but Lafayette's defense held firm down the stretch to keep the Greyhounds off the scoreboard.

Benbow finished with three saves for the shutout, while Huebner made four saves for Loyola. Lafayette ended with the advantage in shots 9-8, while both teams each had seven corners.

Lafayette will be back home next Saturday for Senior Day against Navy at 1 p.m.
