Chang Added to Leopard Swimming and Diving Staff

Towson alumnus set to begin immediately as an assistant coach

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette swimming and diving head coach Mike Rinde added Chris Chang to his staff as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season.

"We couldn't be happier to welcome Chris Chang to Lafayette Swimming and Diving," Rinde said. "In his short time here, he has been the perfect addition to our staff and everything that our student-athletes need for our program to continue moving forward! At a place where people matter more than anything else, Coach Chris is the best of people!"

Bringing more than 20 years of competitive swimming coaching experience, he most recently served as Lead Coach for the Senior 3 group at Greater Somerset County YMCA (GSCY), where he worked with athletes ages 15–18 on technical development, training, race preparation, goal setting and championship performance. During his tenure, he helped develop multiple YMCA National Qualifiers and contributed to GSCY's national success, including team championships at the 2024 YMCA Long Course Nationals and 2026 YMCA Short Course Nationals.

Prior to GSCY, Chang served as Lead Coach at Metuchen-Edison YMCA, where he helped develop multiple YMCA National Champions, YMCA National Qualifiers, three US Open Qualifiers and an Olympic Trials Qualifier. He also served as an Assistant Coach at St. Joseph High School, helping the program win its 22nd NJSIAA State Championship in 2006. As a swimmer, Chang was a member of three NJSIAA State Championship teams at St. Joseph's before competing collegiately at Towson University.

Chang is excited to join the Lafayette family and contribute to the continued development of the Leopards both in and out of the pool. He is grateful for Rinde for the opportunity to join the staff and to assistant coach Jim Dailey for the foundation he built during more than 30 years leading the team. Chang looks forward to building upon that foundation and helping Lafayette student-athletes pursue excellence in the pool, in the classroom and as teammates and leaders.
