EASTON, Pa.- Lafayette used a balanced scoring effort to hand La Salle a 16-7 loss on Wednesday evening. The Leopards remain undefeated at Fisher Stadium in 2026.
Four members of the Maroon and White notched hat tricks, with Olivia Hover's four goals leading the way. Sadie Martiesian, Georgia Swarr and Kristin Igneri collected three goals apiece.
Igneri kicked off the scoring party early, finding the back of the net at 12:31 in the first quarter for a 1-0 lead. The Explorers countered a minute later when Mia Riccitelli tied the game at 1-1. Swarr's first goal of the night began a five-goal run for Lafayette, featuring a pair of scores Evelyn Guyer. Guyer's second goal of the quarter (4:45) pushed the Maroon and White's lead to 6-1. La Salle added another score at the 3:00 mark. Swarr sent two more shots past La Salle goalkeeper Mary Babbage before the clock expired with the Leopards holding an 8-2 advantage heading into quarter two.Â
Lafayette opened the second with a Hover goal eight seconds in for a 9-2 score. The Explorers' offense retaliated with a three-goal stretch. Emi Waldron, Molly Maloney and Kayla Norris pulled La Salle closer, 9-5, with 4:57 to play before half. With 1:07 remaining, Igneri and Isabelle Pohmer each netted goals on the way to an 11-5 halftime lead. In the stanza, the Leopards outshot the visitors, 11-5.
In the third quarter, Lafayette's defense remained stout, allowing just four shots in the session. The Maroon and White forced three turnovers while scooping up 13 ground balls. La Salle's defense buckled down, allowing two goals to to Hover and Martiesian, while facing 15 shots. As quarter three drew to a close, Lafayette led, 13-5.
Martiesian added two goals in the fourth quarter to solidify the 16-7 final. Lafayette dominated in all facets of the game. The Maroon and White outshot their opponent, 47-23. The Leopards converted all 13 of their clear attempts, while holding La Salle to 13-19. Hover, Igneri and Guyer each collected five ground balls each, contributing to Lafayette's 32 total ground balls
Katie Marrs led the way in draw controls, winning 14 of them. The senior midfielder surpassed 200 draw controls for her career in the win.
Lafayette's senior goalkeeper Kennedy Carr made eight saves and moved to 3-1 this season. Her counterpart, Babbage, moved to 3-3 after allowing 13 goals.
Next up, the Leopards travel to Monmouth on Sunday for an 11 a.m. matchup.
