BOSTON, Mass. - Lafayette took Boston U. to the wire in a 12-10 loss on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
Kristin Igneri recorded a team-high five points on three goals and two assists. The Terriers were commanded by four goals and one assist by Tessa Geddes.
Igneri (10L15) and
Emma Toner (1:47) got Lafayette on the board in the opening quarter, trailing 3-2.
While the Maroon and White scored added two tallies to begin the second period, Boston unleashed a 7-1 run to claim a 10-5 halftime advantage. The Terriers' Makenzie McDevitt had three goals in the offensive burst.
The Leopards outscored the hosts 3-1 in the third quarter with goals by
Georgia Swarr,
Evelyn Guyer and
Olivia Hover.
Igneri (9:08) and Hover (8:09) were credited with the final two efforts for Lafayette in the fourth period, only able to get as close as two in the 12-10 outcome.
The Leopards held the advantage in draw controls (12-11) and shots (23-19), despite the Terriers securing more ground balls (14-13). Both teams completed 14 clears and caused nine turnovers.
Lafayette's senior goalkeeper
Kennedy Carr made four saves as Natalie Aiosa made four for Boston.
The Leopards continue Patriot League play at Colgate on March 21 with an 11 a.m. opening draw.
