Leopards Sit in First at West Chester Invitational

Vahey, Kofod-Olsen in tie for third after 18 holes

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - After one day at the Cottrell Invitational, hosted by West Chester, Lafayette leads the 13-team field. The Leopards shot a 15-over-par 295 and claim a three-stroke lead over second-place Millersville with one round left.

Freshmen Chris Vahey and Viktor Kofod-Olsen ended day one of the invitational tied for third. Both golfers shot a two-over-par 72. Vahey collected three birdies on the afternoon, while Kofod-Olsen followed up his 10th-place finish at the Columbia Spring Invitational with six birdies at the par-70 Penn Oaks Golf Club. With one round left, both Kofod-Olsen and Vahey are two strokes out of first place.

Winston Kelenc-Blank (t-8) joined Vahey and Kofod-Olsen within the top 10. The junior used three birdies for a round of 74. Reed Theiss shot a 77, landing him in 24th. Hudson Pace (+13), the fifth member of the Maroon and White, rests in 55th.

Harrison Browne and Valdemar Kofod-Olsen represent the Leopards as individual golfers. Browne finished the day in t-43 after turning in an 11-over-par 81. Kofod-Olsen shot an 87 to place himself in 65th.

Wilmington's Noah Wallace and St. Thomas Aquinas' Connor McKenna lead the 68-player field after both golfers carded an even-par 70.

Lafayette resumes play on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
