EASTON, Pa. - Katie McConnell, who has served as Lafayette's women's lacrosse head coach for the past seven seasons, is stepping down from her role on College Hill.
"Coach McConnell has led the program with integrity, passion and a deep commitment to our student-athletes. I want to thank her for her years of dedication and wish her nothing but future success," said Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman.
McConnell took over the program in July 2019, collecting a 24-68 record and a 7-44 mark in Patriot League play on the Fisher Stadium sideline. The program's defining season came in 2025 when the team was 6-10 following its best start through four games under McConnell. The Maroon and White knocked off four non-conference opponents before earning a 10-8 comeback victory at American.
Lafayette featured three All-Patriot League selections (first, second or third team) and four Academic All-Conference laurels during her tenure. The Leopards have received nine consecutive Academic Honor Squad awards from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association since 2016, continuing a tradition of excellence in the classroom. McConnell played a large part in orchestrating and running Lafayette's National Girls and Women in Sports Day clinics throughout a four-year period.
A national search for McConnell's successor will begin immediately.
