ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Junior Reed Theiss ended the first day of the Navy Invitational on Saturday in a tie for 16th after shooting a two-over-par 144. After a first-round 76, Theiss netted six birdies for a three-under-par 68 that featured back-to-back-to-back birdies twice in the round.

Pranit Gupta, making his first collegiate start, landed in 42nd following rounds of 77 and 71. Viktor Kofod-Olsen fired off a nine-over par 151, resting in t-52. Chris Vahey (155) and Kapil Ramachandran (158) finished the day in 62nd and 78th, respectively. Michael DiNapoli, representing the Maroon and White as an individual, shot a 19-over-par 161 to end up in 81st.

The Leopards (597) currently sit in 12th place at the par-71, 6,970-yard Naval Academy Golf Club.

William & Mary finished the day one in first, shooting 570. With one round left, George Washington (571) trails by a stroke. UConn's Kai Jun Huang carded a two-under-par 140 and leads the field of 84 players. Huang holds a one-stroke lead over Georgetown's Carson Erick and George Washington's Patricio Gonzalez. 

The Leopards finish the event tomorrow, returning to the course at 8 a.m.
