Box Score HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lafayette men's soccer team battled Colgate to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon at Beyer-Small '76 Field.
The Leopards and Red Raiders played through a scoreless opening 36 minutes before Harrison Wolfrom came up with a huge save at the 37th mark. Colgate was awarded a penalty kick, but Wolfrom denied Jack Beerling to keep the match scoreless.
Lafayette broke through just minutes later when Lucas Gardeniers headed in a cross from Samir Dishnica to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead before halftime.
Lafayette held its lead through the second half as both teams battled for chances. Roy Biegon nearly doubled the lead in the 56th minute with a close-range volley, but Colgate goalkeeper Gavin Vichengrad fully extended to make the save and keep the Red Raiders within one.
Colgate found the equalizer in the 89th minute. Otto Bourne finished off assists from Malik Samms and Patrick O'Donohue to even the score at 1-1, which stood as the final.
Wolfrom made five saves before exiting the match due to injury. Francisco Benbow subbed in for relief and made one save for the Leopards. Vichengrad finished with four saves for Colgate.
Lafayette returns to the pitch on Saturday, traveling to Army for a 6 p.m. match.
