EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men's soccer team battled Fordham through 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium. A pair of Rams' goals proved to be the difference as the Leopards fell 2-0.
Fordham opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Sam Delgado finished a chance off an assist from Marco Cantalapiedra to give the Rams a 1-0 lead. Lafayette looked to respond before halftime with senior captain Samir Dishnica recording a shot in the 35th minute that was blocked. Fordham carried its one-goal advantage into the break.Â
The Leopards came out of halftime looking to level the score, with Dishnica and Nicolas Juliano each registering shots in the opening 12 minutes of the second half. Juliano forced Fordham's goalkeeper Shayon Kashi into a save in the 57th minute after dribbling past two defenders and ripping a left-footed shot.
Fordham added to its lead in the 67th minute when Rayane Tchemmoun converted a penalty kick. Lafayette continued to search for a response with Noah Amankulor and Conor Cohen each recording a shot late in the second half.
The Leopards continued to push as time ticked down with James Melnick forcing Kashi into a save in the 87th minute, but Lafayette was unable to find the back of the net.
Wolfrom played all 90 minutes and made seven saves for the Maroon and White, including four in the first half and three after halftime. Kashi made two saves for Fordham to record the shutout.
The Leopards hit the road on Tuesday to face LIU for the first match of a three-game road trip at 3 p.m.
