PHILADELPHIA (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette surrendered a goal early and could not answer, as Penn held on for a hard-fought 1-0 win on Wednesday in men's soccer action.
Lafayette outshot Penn 13-5 with 10 of the shots coming on goal. Penn goalie Jeff Groeber turned in a strong performance for the Quakers, recording 10 saves.
The game-winning tally and the only score of the game came at 19:21. Alex Maasry dribbled through the Lafayette defense after taking a diagonal cross from Rob Jankura who was credited with the assist on the play.
Senior Craig Schroeder (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) was in goal for Lafayette and recorded no saves.
