NEW YORK (AP) - Johnathan Reese rushed for a career-high 201 yards and three touchdowns in Columbia's 47-22 victory over Lafayette on Saturday.
Jeff McCall, 12-of-16 for 98 yards, threw three touchdown passes as Columbia (2-2) scored in each of the quarters.
After falling behind 12-0 in the first quarter, Lafayette (1-4) battled back to 12-10, but that was as close as the Leopards would get.
Reese ran for touchdowns of 1, 2 and 37 yards, scoring in the first, third and fourth quarters as the Lions gained 404 yards in total offense.
Reese gained 100 yards on 25 carries as the Lions built a 19-10 halftime lead after Lafayette closed to 12-10 on Martin Brecht's 23-yard field goal, and Mike Palos' 27-yard return of a punt blocked by Adriel Linyear.
McCall's 15-yard pass to Jarel Cockburn made it 19-10 at the half, and Reese's 2-yard run increased the Lions lead to 26-10 with 3:08 elapsed in the third quarter.
Lafayette quarterback Marko Glavic was 26-of-46 for 217 yards, and ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Phil Yarberough caught nine passes for 102 yards, moving into third place all-time on Lafayette's career receiving list with 1,730 total yards.
The Leopards, at 0-1 in Patriot League play, resume conference action next Saturday, Oct. 14, at Bucknell in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
