EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette indoor track team had an opportunity to see the possible success the team will achieve as it debuted in the Lafayette Invitational at the Allan P. Kirby Sports Center on Saturday. The Leopards faced off against participants from East Stroudsburg, Moravian, Muhlenberg, Rider and St. Joseph's in front of a home crowd.
Lafayette senior Rhonda Snyder (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) continued her dominace of the opposition in the throwing events, placing first in the 20-lb. weight and shotput. Freshman Olivia Tuskinski (Bernardston, Mass./Pioneer Valley)also took the pole vault crown in her first collegiate meet.
Also placing in the top three for the women was Lauren McHale (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City), running her first mile ever at Lafayette, who took third place, Ambyr Craw (N. Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) who took second in the 60 high hurdles and Stephanie Wetherbee (Horsesheads, N.Y./Horsesheads) who was the 440 runner-up.
"As with the men, the ladies had an excellent first meet and that is directly attributed to the conscientious hard work that they had put in during the fall," coach Julio Piazza said. "It was a great indication to everyone on the team that good performances are only going to be the result of dedication and hard work."
Lafayette has off until Jan. 6 when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., for the Bucknell Invitational.
