EASTON, PA - The last time Lafayette played Army, an apparent battle for position within the league turned out to be a 31-point blowout in favor of the Lady Knights. The Leopards looked to avenge that, and did so in a convincing way, leading for most of the game, and eventually winning 77-69.
Lafayette held leads of up to 11 points in the second half, but Army came storming back to take a four point lead with 10 minutes remaining on Christine Gassman's three-pointer. However, the Leopards 60 percent shooting was too much for the Lady Knights, and their 42 percent shooting couldn't keep up. Bayer scored 12 points in the second half, many off offensive rebounds, as she muscled her way underneath.
Four Lafayette players scored in double figures, led by Jen Bayer's 18 points and 10 rebounds, her 10th double-double of the season. Liz Rojahn continued her success after returning from a mid-season slump and hit six of her seven shots for 15 points. Sara Harris and Chris LiVecchi added 15 and 13, respectively. Kim Costello tied her career-high with seven assists, some of them spectacular.
The Leopards improve to 5-19 overall, and 3-6 in the league. They return to action this Saturday as they travel to cross-town rival Lehigh in a important Patriot League matchup. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
