La Salle Falls to 20th Ranked Lafayette

EASTON, PA - The Leopards experienced the second highest offensive outpouring of the season, as Kellee Salber (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) tallied a hat trick in the first half and Lafayette rolled over La Salle, 7-1.

Lafayette scored on six of their 10 first-half shots, including three goals by Salber. Kim Stone (Newtown, PA/George School) scored on a penalty stroke, while freshman Beth Gulotta (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) scored her first career goal to put the Leopards up by five. Olivia Long (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown). last week's Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Week, scored on a tip shot.

The Leopards scored early, as Salber knocked home a goal from an assist by Stone just 2:30 into the contest. The Explorers responded just 17 seconds later, when Katie O'Connell found the net on a scramble in front.

The score only proved to anger the mighty Leopards, as 20th ranked (National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll) Lafayette stormed back for three more goals in the next ten minutes to take a commanding 4-1 lead. After goals by Salber and Gulotta, Carrie Damico (North Wales, PA/North Penn) tipped an Long shot past the goalkeeper for her first goal this season and Lafayette's final tally.

Goaltender Amy Cohen continued her stellar play, stopping four shots, and picking up her 11th win.

The Leopards look to remain unbeaten as they travel to Big East foe Syracuse this Saturday, Oct. 9 for a 2:00 p.m. start.
