Lafayette Remains Unbeaten in League Play

Hamilton, NY - The Leopard field hockey team continued its stellar play in the Patriot League, as they extended their record to 4-0 witha 3-2, come from behind win over Colgate.

Lafayette trailed 2-0 less than five minutes in as Colgate took advantage of a Kristine Thomas goal, and a successful penalty stroke by the Red Raiders' Lindsay Sones.

The Leopards offense was too much for Colgate, however, and Lafayette stormed back with two goals from Kim Stone (Newtown, PA/George School) and Kellee Salber (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland), Salber's with just 48 seconds remaining in the first half.

The scoring stopped in the second half, but Lafayette was not without its chances, as they outshot the Red Raiders 7-2, and 22-4 overall in regulation. The game headed to overtime.

Overtime lasted only 46 seconds. Olivia Long (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) came through with her fourth game-winning goal this season, off a feed fom Salber.

The win pushed the Leopards to 13-1, including 4-0 in the Patriot League. Colgate fell to 3-9, and 1-3 in the league.

Lafayette returns to action when Delaware invades the friendly confines of Metzgar Fields on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 3:00 p.m.
