Sept. 15, 1999
EASTON, PA - Lafayette field hockey's offense struggled in the downpour, but a penalty stroke into the corner of the net by Kim Stone (Newtown, PA/George
Schoo) gave the hosts a 1-0 win over Drexel, extending the Leopards' unbeaten streak to four to begin the season.
Stone, along with Kellee Salber (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) were the only Lafayette players to get shots on goal. Stone had three, Salber two, respectively.
However, Stone's penalty stroke into the upper left corner with 24:50 left in the second was enough for the Leopards to get by Drexel.
Lafayette's defense was spectacular, allowing only two shots on goal in the mud. Goaltender Amy Cohen (Linwood, NJ/Mainland Regional) registered her tenth
career shutout.
Lafayette hits the road this Friday against Columbia, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
