FORKS TOWNSHIP, PA -
Lafayette matched St. Joe's with one run through the first three innings, but a three run
fifth inning put away the Leopards in the second game of a double-dip, 5-3.
Kelly Wise completed a 5-for-7 day with a double in the second inning. She was driven in
when Liz Lucisano reached on an error by the shortstop. Wise came around on the overthrow. It
tied the score at one.
St. Joe's responded in the fourth with a run, and then put the dampers on the Leopards' day
with a three-run fifth inning. The Hawks scored their runs on three consecutive homeruns,
chasing Lafayette starter Whitney Cooper, who took the loss. Kathy Vassos relieved and
closed out the fifth inning.
Lafayette came back in the bottom of the fifth with two runs, but wouldn't get another chance
as darkness ended the game in the top of the sixth inning.
Lafayette drops to 2-8 on the season, while St. Joe's improved to 18-5-1.
The Leopards return to action this weekend, as they begin Patriot League play against
Bucknell on Saturday, April 1, with the doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
