GAME #3: Lafayette 5, Vermont 9

FORKS TOWNSHIP, PA - Wade Rikert's two out, sixth inning grand slam turned a 5-2 Vermont deficit into a 6-5 advantage from which Lafayette could not recover, dropping the game 9-5.

Sophomore right fielder Eric Armstrong provided some early offense with a two run shot in the second, and starter Kevin Swords had a commanding five inning performance, striking out five and walking one. The Lafayette bullpen, however, could not maintain the lead, allowing seven earned runs in the final four innings.

Freshman Matt Tambellini went three for four with an RBI and two runs scored, as well as making his Lafayette debut on the mound. Andy Kumming notched the win for the Catamounts, while sophomore Dan D'Allesandrotook the loss for the Leopards.
