EASTON, PA - In the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, Bucknell's offense exploded for 22 runs to give the Bison a 3-1 advantage in the season series. Bucknell scored three runs in the second, six in the third 12 in the fourth.
In the third, John DiBonaventura dealt the biggest blow with a three-run home run down the left field line. Gething followed that later in the inning with a two-run shot.
Tyler Prout went yard with a grand slam and Gething added a three-run homer to account for seven of the Bison's 12 runs in the fifth. The Leopards scored their final four runs in the bottom of that inning. Lafayette runs scored on an RBI-double from the bat of freshman Brian Heyesey (Highstown, NJ/Highstown) and RBI-singles from freshman Brad Drake (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg) and sophomore Jon Kline (Hingham, MA/Thayer Academy).
Mark Stetina (1-0) got the win for Bucknell, throwing five innings while scattering eight hits. Brendan McDonough (Moscow, PA/North Pocono) fell to 1-1 with a seven-run performance over 2 1/3 innings.
Lafayette's record is 5-14 overall and 1-3 in the Patriot League. Bucknell is 11-13 overall, 3-1 in Patriot League play. Lafayette returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts C.W. Post at 3 p.m.
