Women's Soccer Dealt Its Second Loss

PHILADELPHIA, (www.lafayette.edu) - La Salle took advantage of scarce scoring chances to defeat Lafayette, 3-0, in women's soccer action on Wednesday.

The Leopards managed to outshoot La Salle 11-8 thanks to a flurry of shots late in the game, but Lafayette was unable to connect for a goal.

La Salle scored first in the third minute as senior midfielder Dana Gavaghan took a cross that was deflected by Lafayette goalkeeper Ashley Wesmiller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and fed the foot of La Salle midfielder Michelle Bauer.

The Explorers (5-1) tallied a second goal at 29:34 as junior Patricia Gauss deflected in a cross from Amy Schneider. La Salle senior Tracey Spinelli finished the scoring by knocking in a penalty kick at 51:10.

La Salle goalie Kaitlin Glass' managed seven saves on the day in her eighth career shutout. Wesmiller allowed three goals in 76 minutes while making one save.

Lafayette (3-2) returns to action at Army at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the Leopards' Patriot League opener.
