Sept. 2, 2000

Box Score

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's soccer team, coming off two-straight Patriot League championships, dropped its season opener in a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to SUNY-Oneonta Saturday at Metzgar Field.

The Leopards matched Oneonta shot-for-shot and save-for-save through regulation time until a cornerkick 3:10 into the overtime period led to the only goal of the game by Oneonta's James Crofts.

Lafayette goal keeper Craig Schroeder (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) registered six saves and had help from the tenacious Leopard defense on four other Oneonta shots. Junior Mike Milberger (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains), along with freshmen Steve Orloff (Port Washington, N.Y./Schreibner) and Jamie Mullarkey (Cramlington, England/Cramlington), led the Leopard offensive attack with two shots apiece.

Lafayette recorded 10 total shots for the game, matching the Oneonta offense.

Next up for Coach Lenahan and the Leopards is a trip to the Brown University Adidas Classic. The Leopards will play host Brown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 before facing Yale on Sunday, Sept. 10.
