EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopards ended their nine game losing streak and earned their first Patriot League win of the season as they outlasted Army, 63-49, Saturday at Kirby Sports Center.

Lafayette (5-14, 1-4) jumped out to an early lead in the first half, due largely to freshman Colleen Fitzpatrick who scored 12 of her career-high 17 points before the break. But the Black Knights fought back to within three, 30-27, heading into the locker room.

The Leopards let Army (13-6, 1-4) close to within one just after the break but that would be the closest the team from West Point, N.Y., would come as Lafayette went on a 13-7 run and never looked back.

In only her second varsity game for Lafayette this season, sophomore Elizabeth Rojahn managed six points after sitting out with a lower back injury that was suffered in preseason. Elise Palac and Christina LiVecchi each finished with nine points in the victory. The Leopards' leading scorer Jennifer Bayer was held to under 10 points for the second straight game as she managed just two points but she was a force on the boards, grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.

Freshman Katie Macfarlane finished with a team-high 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds to register a double-double for Army. Also scoring in double figures for the Black Knights was Halaevalu Helu who had 14.

Lafayette hits the trail to Colgate on Jan. 31 for the first of three consecutive Patriot League road contests. Tip-off with the Red Raiders is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by the men's matchup.
