Lafayette vs. Bucknell Post-Game Quotes

Oct. 13, 2001

Recap?|? Final Stats

BUCKNELL

Head Coach Tom Gadd: "Our defense came up big today. I was real frustrated with the pass interference calls. I don't know how many turnovers we forced, but that was key in the victory.

It looks like Jabu (Powell) has a rib injury, either a break or cartilage damage.

They had several strikes downfield and when they didn't catch it, there was a pass interference call.

(Marko) Glavic is a great football player and they've got an excellent bunch of young receivers. Coach Tavani has done a great job with this program and they'll be a factor in the league for the next few years at least.

Our defense has played well each week. We've played very consistently from week to week."

Junior WR Jim Horan: "(Justin) Pettigrew was the new corner today and wasn't supposed to start so we were trying to pick on him. We got him isolated in their Cover 2 and Todd (Wenrach) made an unbelievable throw. The safety and Pettigrew collided. Pettigrew thought he could make a play on the ball, and that gave me the outside, and the safety got cut off from making a play, but Todd's throw sealed it."

Junior QB Todd Wenrich: "In a Cover 2, you want to throw a dart, and put a little zip on it, otherwise that ball is going to be intercepted, and with Jimmy (Horan) being 6'3, it makes it a little easier to complete it.

I don't think we executed as well as we could've today, and at times their defense really confused me."

LAFAYETTE

Head Coach Frank Tavani: "That was a tremendous football game. Our players slugged it out for every second for 60 minutes. They did some good things out there. Obviously the turnovers are big as in any game.

We had an opportunity on the first drive and came up with a field goal.

I can't remember being prouder of a group of young men. We have demanded an awful lot from this football team and they have provided.

I don't want to see anyone hanging their heads, we put forth a heck of an effort out there, and that's what we have been asking for.

Our defense really shut them down, but they hit the big plays.

Sophomore QB Marko Glavic: "No, I am not happy with the performance today. We lost and that is the bottom line. Just look at the turnovers. You have to play better than that. I am really disappointed, but we will come back tomorrow to focus on Holy Cross."

On the final play of the game: "I saw him coming across and I just let it go to high. You can't dwell on it. Just come out tomorrow and get ready to play Holy Cross."

Senior TE Stewart Kupfer: "From an offensive standpoint we have had a change of attitude in that we are expected to win games."

Sophomore DB Justin Pettigrew on Bucknell's final touchdown: "We had shut down the long passes all game until that point. That receiver (Jim Horan) made a great play. When you match someone 6-3 with someone 6-0, the taller guy usually wins. It's a game of inches."
