LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - A goal just three minutes into overtime handed the Lafayette women's soccer team its third loss of the season, a 3-2 decision at Siena on Tuesday afternoon.

The Leopards (7-3) led the game from the outset, as junior Briana Rinchiuso (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) hit the back of the net with a goal just 2:37 into the game. Classmate Emily Myers (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) registered her first assist of the season with a pass that led to Rinchiuso's breakaway goal.

The Leopards seems to dominate the opening half, holding an 11-6 shot advantage. Siena responded, however, in the final 45 minutes of regulation with two scores 10 minutes apart. Nicole Orlandella and Erin Beam scored at 57:08 and 67:00 to give the Saints a 2-1 lead.

With the Leopards trailing late in the game, Patriot League Rookie of the Week Meghan Sweeney (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) found the net. Her third goal of the season came at 81:23 on a cornerkick with the assist originating from junior Bryn Carlson (Portland, Maine/Deering). Lafayette held a 5-2 advantage in cornerkicks for the game.

Sweeney's goal sent the game to overtime. The two teams played just 3:51 of the first 15-minute overtime period, as Erin DeMatteo took a cross from Beam and booted home the game-winning goal.

Junior Ashley Wesmiller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was in goal for Lafayette, making two saves while allowing three goals. Krista Nordmark stopped seven shots and allowed two goals in the fifth-straight win for Siena.

Lafayette returns to Patriot League action on Saturday when the Leopards travel to face American at 1 p.m.
