Women's Soccer Dealt First Patriot League Loss

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Navy dealt the Lafayette women's soccer team its first Patriot League loss of the season, scoring two first-half goals en route to a 3-1 win on Saturday afternoon at Metzgar Fields.

Navy (10-3, 3-1) scored its first goal at 27:28 when Stacy Finley took a cross and knocked home a close-range shot. Nadia Sheikh connected for the second score with a diving header following a cross from the right. Justine Fischer assisted on both goals.

In the second half, Navy took a 3-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Stephanie Parker at 65:20.

The Leopards scored under three minutes later. Junior Briana Rinchiuso (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) took a crossing pass in the box from sophomore Kerrie Kiley (Greenlawn, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and tapped it in to make the score 3-1. It was Rinchiuso's third goal of the season.

The Lafayette offense got off three more shots in the half, but the final remained 3-1.

Sophomore Marissa Mullins (Wall, N.J./Wall Township) made five saves in goal as did Navy keeper Kate MacFarlane.

Lafayette (8-4, 2-1) returns to action on Wednesday, when the Leopards travel to St. Peter's for a 4 p.m. kick off.
