LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Four Bucknell players scored in double figures, as the Bison women's basketball team defeated Lafayette, 83-44, in Patriot League action.
Bucknell never trailed in the game. The two teams battled to a 10-10 tie with 14:47 remaining in the opening half. Four and a half minutes later, the Bison lead was at 16, 26-10, after a layup by junior Kate Rounsley capped a 16-0 run. The Bucknell cushion never dwindled below 12 the rest of the half, and the host team carried a 42-23 lead into the locker room.
The Bison built their lead to as many as 40 in the second half behind 54.5% shooting from the field, while holding the Leopards (6-16, 2-6 Patriot League) to just 28.6% from the floor. Bucknell outrebounded Lafayette by a 41-21 margin.
Lafayette sophomore Jennifer Bayer and freshman Megan Haughey each scored eight points to lead Lafayette, as Haughey was a perfect four-for-four from the field.
Bucknell (17-5, 7-1 Patriot League) was led by Molly Creamer's game-high 17 points.
