Baseball Completes Sweep of Maryland-Eastern Shore

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette baseball team followed up a 19-4 win with a 9-6 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday in Princess Anne, Md.

Junior Vince D'Angelis (Montvale, N.J./St. Joseph's Regional) led the offensive charge for the Leopards, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Sophomore Brad Drake (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg) went a perfect 3-for-3 from the batter's box on Saturday and managed to drive in one of Lafayette's nine runs.

Sophomore righthander James Duer (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) started the game for Lafayette, and threw three innings before being relieved by freshman Frank Biele (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull). Biele threw two innings.

Freshman lefty Steve Eisert (Scarsdale, N.Y/Scarsdale) came on in the bottom of the seventh to close out the game for the Leopards. Eisert got the win, the first of his brief collegiate career.

Lafayette managed nine runs on nine hits and an error, while Maryland-Eastern Shore posted six runs on five hits and three errors.

Lafayette improves to 2-0 on the season while Maryland-Eastern Shore drops to 0-5.

The Leopards's doubleheader at Delaware State on Sunday has been cancelled due to weather. Lafayette is scheduled to open its home slate of games at 3 p.m. on Wednesday vs. East Stroudsburg.
