Sept. 25, 2001

Box Score

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Fordham used a goal 25 minutes into the second half to hold on for a 1-0 win over the Lafayette women's soccer team on Tuesday night at Metzgar Fields.

The Leopards' offense looked strong early. Junior Emily Myers (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), who has 10 goals on the season, fired off three shots in the first 10 minutes, but couldn't find the back of the net. The Leopards (6-2) outshot Fordham 7-3 in the opening half.

The second half was a different story, as Fordham controlled the momentum for the majority of the final 45 minutes, outshooting Lafayette 7-4. The Rams scored the game-winning goal on their seventh shot of the game and third of the half. Corey Dunfey headed a Beth Kitson serve over the head of Lafayette goalkeeper Ashley Wesmiller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) at 65:16.

The goal would hold up as Fordham held Lafayette to few scoring opportunities in the final 25 minutes.

Shannon Misiaszek got the win in goal for Fordham (5-1), making four saves in 90 minutes. Wesmiller recorded five saves.

The Leopards return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. when they host Rider in the final game of a three-game homestand.
