George Mason Powers Past Leopards

FAIRFAX, Va. (www.lafayette.edu) - George Mason overpowered Lafayette to win both games of the softball team's doubleheader in Fairfax, Va. on Wednesday. The Patriots won the first game 8-0 and took game two, 11-1.

In game one, the Patriots got off to a strong start to score three runs in the third inning. George Mason (22-9) went on to record 11 hits and eight runs. Junior Rene Leveque pitched the complete game, giving up three hits and no walks.

Senior Liz Lucisano and freshmen Danielle Bernotsky and Samantha Lucas recorded the Leopards' lone hits in the game, while sophomore Amy Magos picked up the loss on the mound.

In game two, senior Jill Regan picked up the win with a complete game, giving up one run, four hits and no walks. George Mason combined for 11 hits and 11 runs.

Lafayette's Lucisano knocked in the Leopards' lone run to score Lucas. Hits were recorded by Bernotsky (3) and Lucas.

Lafayette (1-6) returns to campus on Thursday to host Ivy League foe Harvard at 1 p.m.
