EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The second day of full-squad, two-a-day practices was highlighted today by the addition of shoulder pads on all 96 active members of the 2002 Lafayette football team.
"Our guys are working hard and I think they know and understand what it takes to be successful and they're putting the time and work into it," said third-year head coach Frank Tavani following today's morning practice session.
The team practiced at Metzgar Fields in the 90-degree heat in the second of a seven-day stretch of two-a-day sessions. The Leopards have remained relatively injury free thus far during the preseason, suffering only minor injuries through the first five days.
The squad concludes today's activities with team and positional meetings this evening. The weekend slate calls for 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 4:15-6 p.m. practices both days, and Sunday's practices will be in full equipment.
Preseason camp continues until Aug. 26 when classes begin. The Leopards open the 2002 season Sept. 7 when they host Monmouth at 1 p.m. at Fisher Field.
