LAFAYETTE
Head Coach Frank Tavani: "Obviously it was not a good day for the Leopards out there. We were in a hole early, and we had field position problems all first half. At halftime we tried to zero in on what we could do and see how much fight in the dog was left, and like I told the team this is the kind of game that you get knocked down, but you have to get back up, and we have to get back up for next week."
"Penn is the kind of program that no matter who they lose they still have great football players. Coach Bagnoli does a great job aggressively recruiting good players."
"(Joe) McCourt has not been 100 percent, but he practices through it. He might be a step slow, but he is a tough kid and we are trying to get as much out of him as we can. We just could not get anything going, run or pass, and you have to credit Penn."
Archibald Fisher WR: "I ran the pattern to the end zone, and I had height on the defensive back, and Marko threw it up. We worked on that in practice and it was just like at practice."
Marko Glavic QB: "They ran a 3-4 defense which we have not seen yet. They are good, and maybe we underestimated them a little bit. They took it to us today."
"We will bounce back. That was a good team we lost to, and we have no reason to hang our heads. I already forgot about the game, and we will be ready for Princeton."
"There was nothing that they did that we couldn't handle, but we just did not step up. We have to learn from today and be ready next week."
Chris Partridge LB: "We want to win every game, but this was a tough one. We fought, our young guys learned a lot, and we'll be ready for Princeton."
"We have to fight now, our backs are against the wall. We can go from 2-0 to 2-2. I am confident that we are going to practice hard, and we have to feel that week to week that the team we are playing is the best team on the schedule."
PENNSYLVANIA
Head Coach Al Bagnoli: "I was very pleased, it being our opening game. Overall, with as many young kids as we have and given the success that Lafayette has experienced in the first two games, we played pretty well. We were physical from the get go, we made plays when we had to, and it is nice when your quarterback and tailback play well early in what was their first starts. We are pleased, but we can play a lot better too."
"To get our young guys up to game speed was really important. It was nice to see that kind of production."
"I thought our offensive line played well, and our whole second unit played well for the entire second half. Only two had extensive game experience, but they were very solid picking up the blitzes today."
"We had two objectives. One was to get their quarterback out of rhythm, and force him to move around. Also, we wanted to contain (Joe) McCourt and not let him run free."
"It's hard to complain when you score 50 points."
Travis Belden LB: "They definitely had some problems with our front and some stunts that we put in over the off season. We also were able to put pressure up the middle and their quarterback was not able to step through, and was throwing off his back leg, and it was a matter of the guys behind us making a play on the ball."
Stephen Faulk RB: "I have been preparing since camp, and preseason, and the transition has been hard work but there is a long way to go. This is just a start."
Mike Mitchell QB: "I knew that they blitzed the strong side a lot. We were going to check into a sprint out, and we were checking it off well, and the offensive line made it pretty easy for Steve and myself."
Kevin Stefanski S: "We felt as a secondary that the ball would be up for grabs early and it was up to us to make plays. We ran some different types of coverage at him, and took advantage, and helped out our offense by scoring a touchdown on defense."
