ITHACA, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's soccer team encountered a stingy defense and dropped a 1-0 game to Cornell on Wednesday afternoon at Berman Field.

Cornell goalkeeper Katie Thomas made four saves to earn the shutout, and Shannon Fraser gave her all the support she needed. Fraser took a pass from Emily Knight and scored from 10 yards out at 26:09.

Ashley Wesmiller turned aside eight Big Red shots in a losing effort.

Lafayette (4-3) opens Patriot League play at Bucknell on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
